Invitation from the Japan Sabo Association for ARDSWC to Participate in the Japan-Taiwan Sabo Technology Exchange

To strengthen Japan-Taiwan collaboration and exchange in sabo technologies, Director-General Lee led a delegation to Japan for the Japan-Taiwan Sabo Exchange Program. During the event, Japanese and Taiwanese scholars and government officials participated in a bilateral seminar discussing recent earthquakes, typhoons, large-scale landslides, landslide dams, and sediment movement, as well as disaster prevention and early warning countermeasures. In addition, during the government officials’ meeting, topics such as sediment-related disasters, mitigation strategies, and large-scale landslide monitoring were shared.

The delegation also conducted on-site visits to Osawa Alluvial Fan Sabo Facilities, as well as the First and Second Matsuzawa River Sabo Dams. Through this Japan-Taiwan exchange and learning experience, ARDSWC aims to enhance its sediment disaster prevention strategies under climate change, thereby achieving effective disaster risk reduction and mitigation.
