A Training Delegation from Belize's Cross-Ministry Rapid Response Team Visits the Soil and Water Conservation Outdoor Classroom at Dongshih Forest Garden

A training delegation from Belize's Cross-Ministry Rapid Response Team, consisting of five government officials, visited Taiwan and was led by the Taichung Branch of ARDSWC to conduct a field exchange at the Soil and Water Conservation Outdoor Classroom in Dongshih Forest Garden. The visit covered key projects, including the Sijiaolin Torrent Golden Quality Award project, the monitoring of the Erbajia landslide area, as well as the handcrafted trail-building initiative, showcasing outstanding agricultural infrastructure projects and providing visitors with an in-depth understanding of Taiwan’s expertise and experience in soil and water conservation and disaster prevention.

Throughout the visit, the Taichung Branch provided a full guided tour, detailing the establishment of the Soil and Water Conservation Outdoor Classroom and explaining the formation, remediation, and monitoring efforts of the Erbajia landslide area following the 921 Earthquake. The tour also extended to the soil and water conservation engineering demonstration zone, approaching the topic from a disaster prevention perspective while incorporating aspects of eco-friendliness and environmental education to provide visitors with a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s policies and technologies in this field.

Overall, the Belizean officials highly recognized the achievements of the Soil and Water Conservation Outdoor Classroom. This exchange not only facilitated mutual learning and experience sharing but also laid a solid foundation for potential future collaboration between both parties.
