The German Institute Taipei visited rural areas in Ruili and Taiping, Chiayi

The ARDSWC has a longstanding exchange with Germany to study rural competition mechanisms and promote the Golden Village Award. We were honored to host Dr. Jörg W. Polster, the German Ambassador, and 4 other distinguished guests from April 12th to 13th. We explored the development, tourism, and sustainability efforts in the Ruili/Taiping scenic area of Meishan Township, Chiayi County.

On April 12th, we first visited CHASANDAI, leading guests to personally enter the tea plantation, getting close to nature, experiencing agricultural activities—this embodies the spirit of CHASANDAI. It resonates with the steadfast commitment of the ARDSWC, jointly pursuing the sustainable coexistence of humans and nature. Subsequently, we explored the Ruili Green Tunnel, indulging in a bamboo forest tea experience, allowing our guests to immerse themselves in the tranquility of spring and appreciate the beauty of nature.

Next, we visited the Ruili B&B, where the intricacies of Taiwanese specialty coffee, from roasting to brewing, were showcased. The German guests enthusiastically participated in a coffee cupping and praised the expertise of the estate's cultivation and management. In the evening, the guests were led on a firefly tour by GOLD TEA Homestay, experiencing the ecological richness of the Ruili area and commending local environmental restoration efforts.

On April 13th, our delegation visited the Taiping community, exploring the Taiping Suspension Bridge and engaging in indigo dyeing and visiting the pottery achievements of "Wu Er Kiln." In pursuit of sustainable industry, the Taiping community has integrated village resources and established systems, participating in various project awards. The German guests acknowledged the innovative achievements in industry development and tourism design in the Taiping community and interacted with local residents, sharing experiences and insights.

The German Institute Taipei praised Taiwan's unique rural charm and highlighted that this visit will further strengthen the friendly cooperation between Taiwan and Germany, promoting exchanges in rural development.
