Coordinadora Nacional para la Reducción de Desastres (CONRED) Visited the ARDSWC

This visit is one of the exchange activities within the collaborative disaster prevention and early warning project between the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) and Guatemala. Associate Professor Hao-Che Ho from National Taiwan University led personnel from the Coordinadora Nacional para la Reducción de Desastres (CONRED) of Guatemala to visit our agency, where we introduced the operating procedures of the Debris flow Disaster Emergency Action Team. We also showed the application platform - BigGIS system, which utilizes 60 years of satellite imagery and historical maps spanning a century to provide robust support for our disaster management efforts.

During the tour, the Debris flow Disaster Emergency Action Team demonstrated their operations, showed the disaster prevention backpack, and explained the incident reporting process to the Guatemalan guests. We delved into the workings of the BigGIS system, aiming to reduce disaster risks and accumulate valuable data through remote sensing technology. There was an exchange of ideas regarding early warning systems and practical aspects of disaster prevention. The Guatemalan professionals expressed enthusiastic feedback on the significance of collecting historical imagery through the BigGIS system.
