Time-Honored Brand, New Future
On May 16, 112th year of the Republic of China, the Legislative Yuan passed the "Organization Act of the Ministry of Agriculture." The Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, was upgraded to the Ministry of Agriculture on August 1, 112th year. In line with the organizational adjustments, the original Soil and Water Conservation Bureau was officially restructured into the Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation under the Ministry of Agriculture. Since its establishment, the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau has undergone three organizational reforms, shouldering important policy tasks such as slopeland conservation, rural regeneration, and debris flow disaster prevention for over 60 years. With the recent organizational reforms, it signifies an even greater responsibility and mission.
Chen Tien-shou, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, stated that with the upgrade of the Council of Agriculture to the Ministry of Agriculture, they will address internal and external challenges, including climate change, by building resilient agriculture. The establishment of the Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation aims to strengthen rural planning and development, ensure resilient and secure hillside environments, promote revitalization and overall planning in rural areas, and establish a sustainable development model for new rural communities.
We express our sincere gratitude to all partners who have supported, cared for, and assisted in soil and water conservation and rural regeneration efforts. The unwavering dedication and spirit of contribution from everyone have been indispensable driving forces for the development of the Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation. In the future, the agency will continue its mission to protect land and rural communities. Efforts will be intensified to promote disaster preparedness and monitoring, build resilient national land and disaster prevention technology. In rural communities, more efforts and resources will be invested in community construction to create livable environments. Through the promotion of rural-themed tours and products, the agency will drive the development and upgrade of community industries, increase farmers' income, and strive to bring about a broader vision for rural development.
The establishment of the Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation marks the beginning of another transformation. There are many challenges ahead on the road to the future. The agency will uphold its professionalism and innovative thinking, confidently meet challenges, and work together to create a bright future for rural regeneration and soil and water conservation.
