2023 Landslide and Surface Erosion Prevention Project (in Thailand) - Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation, MOA

The ARDSWC conducted on-site visits to the Landslide and Surface Erosion Prevention Project (in Thailand) from December 1st to December 8th, 2023. The visit aimed to engage with various agricultural entities in Thailand and gain a deeper understanding of local farmland soil and water conservation efforts. The itinerary encompassed several key locations, including the Royal Park Rajapruek, Royal Project Product Institute, Royal Project Foundation, agricultural soil and water conservation measures in Uthai Thani Province, the Khao Hin Sorn Royal Development Study Center in Chachoengsao Province, the 2023 World Soil Day event, and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand.

During the visit to Thailand, the delegation from our department paid special attention to the soil and water conservation system plan in Nam-Phae sub-district, Phrao district, Chiang Mai Province. Most local farmers on the slopeland have not adopted contour farming practices, and we proposed improvement suggestions. We collaborated with LDD to plan a blueprint for setting up a demonstration site for land and water conservation, aiming to enhance the willingness of local farmers to implement hillside soil and water conservation methods.

Additionally, the delegation participated in events related to the 2023 World Soil Day, emphasizing the importance of soil and water resources to life. Through the exchange of experiences from various countries, the event sought to strengthen the concept of sustainable soil management and enhance the ability to address multiple threats and pressures under the scenario of climate change.

In concluding discussions, the ARDSWC emphasized collaboration with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand, underscoring mutual efforts in exchanging knowledge and practical technologies in the fields of agriculture and environmental protection. Both parties committed to furthering in-depth cooperation in agricultural endeavors.
